designs have long been used
for low vision, high-power applications. Traditionally, a high-minus or
high-plus molded front side lens blank would be ordered, and the lab would
surface the back conventionally.
With our process, the front of the lens remains spherical, while the back
surface is lenticulated. This provides a more cosmetically attractive, and
optically superior lens product.
And... the benefits are not limited to
cases of extreme power. Our lenses are used in applications where a
moderate to heavily myopic prescription can be
comfortably worn in a fashionable frame, even rimless. Several millimeters of
thickness can be removed from high-plus prescriptions. The lenticular design can
even be used to fit the high-minus Rx in an eight base wrap style frame.
When fitting this lens, one can choose the size of the optical zone, or bowl,
and the degree of lenticulation. An edge thickness or the maximum change of
curve can be specified.
